Come out and improve your skills.  Please bring both line launch and electric sailplanes to the field for each contest; the CD will decide, based on wind and weather which type of contest will take place: line launch or electric ALES.

The CD for this event will send out a notice by email a few days prior to the event, indicating if the contest will proceed, and will decide if a rain date is appropriate.  

Please note that the onsite CD may approve other uses of the field during contests, if circumstances permit.  The contest will take priority on the field, however.

Saturday, June 16/18 at SOGGI’s #703 Hwy #6 flying site.  Registration is at 9:30 am. The event begins at 10:00 am SHARP.  This is an Informal event for SOGGI club members. There is no entry fee. Come out and improve your skills.  Please bring your line-launch sailplane and your electric sailplane to the field. The wind and weather that day will decide which type of contest will actually take place: line launch sailplane or altitude-limited electric-sailplane.

You will receive a notice by email a few days prior to the event confirming that the contest will proceed on schedule, or indicating a rain-date to supercede the originally-scheduled contest date.  

This contest is an official club function that aims to improve the skill set of its participants. It is open to all SOGGI members and is deserving of the support of our full membership. For those reasons, and to prevent distractions from jeopardizing field safety, other flying activity unrelated to the contest will not be permitted on the field during contest hours. Members who choose not to compete in this contest are none-the-less welcome to attend. We will need Timers for the contest, and your assistance with field set-up and tear-down is always appreciated. Come and enjoy the ambiance. Become familiar with contest activity and with the field-routine. After the contest, have a coffee with us at Tim's in Caledonia. We thank you for your understanding, and for your active support.

Saturday, 21Open Fun Fly for MAAC Members!9:30 am

On Saturday July 21, 2018 the Southern Ontario Glider Group (SOGGI) will hold an Fun Fly at the Highway 6 field just north of Caledonia. Registration at 9:30am. Event begins at 10:00am.

The Fun Fly is open to all line, electric and hand launch launch sailplanes. Flight Lines will be setup for separate Line and electric launch. Participants may bring their own winches or hi-starts. Anything from a UMX Radian to a 4m Xplorer are welcome. Come out and check out organized soaring in a friendly, welcoming environment.

There will be a spot landing contest and certificates will be presented for longest flight, longest total flight time, best and worst landings.

No entry fees. A BBQ will be held, with hot dogs and soft drinks available.

Proof of MAAC or AMA membership is required. Pilots from other clubs, helpers etc. are most welcome. 

If the weather is unsuitable a new date will be agreed at the field on the day, or by email if the weather forecast results in cancellation beforehand.

On Saturday, September 22/18  SOGGI will hold an Altitude Limited Electric Soaring at SOGGI’s #703 Hwy #6 flying site.  No entry fees. Registration starts at 9:00 am, pilots briefing at 9:30, contest start at 10:00.  Pilots from other clubs, helpers etc. are most welcome.

 Proof of MAAC or AMA membership is required.
Contestant's sailplanes will need to be fitted with a device to limit launch altitude to 200 meters.

The CD for this event will send out a notice by email a few days prior to the event, indicating if the contest will proceed, and will decide if a rain date is appropriate.  If you are NOT a SOGGI member, and wish to be notified, or have any other questions, or need directions to the field, please contact the CD ahead of time.
